•Amorphous Ni-Co sulfide /crystalline MnS is modified on rGO.•The optimized cathode shows a high specific capacity of 1248 C g−1at 2 A g−1.•Fe2O3nanodots are confined on rGO via a facile one-step deposition approach.•The nanodots-on-nanosheets nanostructured anode shows good rate capability.•The all-solid-state device achieves a high specific energy of 42.0 Wh kg−1.
