Three shortened matrix attachment region (MAR) derivatives can retain full MAR activity and mediate episomal vector replication, and they showed higher levels of transgene expression levels and long-term expression of the recombinant proteins. Three functional truncated MARs can bind to SAF-A MAR-binding protein.
