The article presents the discussion on recording numbers of the global population diagnosed with a mental illness. Topics include appearing to be susceptible to mental pathology, including an alarmingly high proportion of young people; and showing identity, gender, racialization and stigmatization; self, subjectivity and subjectification; norms, normality and normalization.
