TO THE EDITOR: An article entitled "Lipid Analysis of the Human Cornea With and Without Arcus Senilis" by Richard T. Tschetter, which appeared in Arch Ophthal76:403-405, 1966, contains inaccuracies, which in my admittedly biased opinion, need correcting. In referring to an earlier paper of mine on the same subject (Arch Ophthal68:264-266, 1962), Dr. Tschetter stated that controls (no arcus) were from children under 12. While it is true that such values were included in this article, this was done purely for the sake of information due to the general lack of data in the literature. The conclusions reached in this investigation were based on a comparison of the sterol content of the peripheral and central portions of the cornea.
