The article discusses the development of landscape metrics to rank rivers in relation to potential salmon productivity in the North Pacific Rim. The authors had used a digital elevation model and multispectral satellite imagery to extract the metrics for each river basin. They had developed procedures to extract for river networks, floodplains and other catchment features.
