The article discusses the results of a study on the impact of lodging on the production of flax and wheat seed grown in western Canada. The authors explain that severe lodging was more a problem in flax with average seed yield reductions of 32 percent than in wheat with 16 percent seed yield reductions. Lodging in flax is associated with the incidence of disease. Information on the effect of the action of pathogenic on seed development and yield is also described.
