The article focuses on environmental geological examination of chromium contamination in Eastern Hungary. According to laboratory experiments chromatic reduction effect of humic soil layers on chromate can reduce the impact of chromium contamination on an area. Communal waste, heavy metal sludges, galvanic sludge, motor industry, leather industry, metal industry and waste materials together with pharmaceutical, canning factory and other kinds of waste have been placed in the earth pits of the waste disposal plant.
