The article presents a study on the functional residual capacity (FRC) of dogs. The study aimed to determine the effect of body position, chest wrap and sedation on functional residual capacity in six healthy dogs. Functional residual capacity is defined as the volume of gas remaining in the lung at the end of a normal expiration. It is observed that lung function becomes abnormal when triggered by a disease or trauma and surgical procedure particularly thoracotomy.
