The article presents information on a study which determined if an emergency medical service (EMS) staff can predict if a transported patient requires hospital admission. The study used questionnaires answered by an EMS staff frequently transporting patients to an adult emergency department in Great Britain. Results revealed that an EMS staff in one British ambulance service showed reasonable accuracy in predicting the probability of a patient being admitted in a hospital and the likelihood that others would be able to leave.
