The article presents a study conducted by 90 members if the General Practitioner Research Group in England to investigate the psychiatric aspects of hypertension. Four cases of hypertension have been recorded by each researcher, which produced four forms consisting demographic data, symptom self-rating scale, life situation, and physician's report. Psychiatric symptoms have been assessed on a five-point severity scale, including not present, mild, moderate, severe, and extremely severe. In effect, psychological factors were found to play a part in the aetiology of hypertension. However, it is inferred that such evidence has not reflected a causal relationship between anxiety and hypertension. Positive findings have been found, which is an increased pulse rate in the hypertension.
