The article presents a study for examining correlation between ivacaftor-induced cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) activation in airway epithelial cells and improved lung function. Topics discussed include concentration of chloride in sweat (SwCl) as a central biomarker to diagnose CF, cells in PneumaCult EX medium (Stemcell) supplemented with fluconazole and antibiotics targeting CF pathogens; and drug-induced chloride transport.
