The paper deals with the security situation in the town of Znojmo and its aim is the analysis of survey results through statistical methods to present a comprehensive look at security as perceived by citizens of the town of Znojmo. Used materials and data based on long-term research project founded in the 2001 by local government. In 2010, the sponsor of a sociological survey perception of town citizens' safety was Commission on Crime Prevention Council as an advisory body to the town of Znojmo and the survey was produced by Research and Advisory Centre of Private College of Economic Studies in Znojmo (SVŠE). The survey was conducted during April-September 2010, data was collected by trained SVŠE interviewers during the months of April-May 2010. Survey respondents were citizens of the town of Znojmo over 15 years of age who have permanent residence in Znojmo. It was used a standardized personal interviews and respondents were selected by quota sampling. Quota characteristics were gender, age and education. Other characteristics of the surveyed were economic activity, marital status and residence. The quotas are based on the structure of the population of the Czech Republic by the Czech Statistical Office of Population Census and Housing 2001 (Census 2001). The composition of the sample was determined as 47 % of men and 53 % of women. The sample size for the town of Znojmo was 520 respondents, of whom 514 received respondents' answers could be used for further analysis. The structure of the interview was based mainly on client needs, a town of Znojmo. In drawing up the questions the representatives of the Czech Police and the Metropolitan Police Znojmo also participated. Results from the survey were processed using statistical methods and presented in the form of texts, tables and graphs and maps in particular. They were divided into four areas, namely security, crime prevention and police and final area is the relationship with the police. For each question the answers of the respondents were visualized through graphs. The main motivation for the investigation was to determine whether people feel near their residence safely and if not, for what reason. It was examined whether respondents were ever victim of a crime and if so, what and whether they eventually reported to the police and how the police in their case progressed. Respondents also answered a question, what kind of crime is felt to be most at risk and if they are satisfied with the work of city police officers and state police officers. Ratio of the total number of respondents who feel sense of security around the residence positively (yes or rather definitely yes) was 83 %. If the respondents answered that they feel unsafe in any way, frequently mentioned as a reason to feel insecure due to the frequent occurrence of the problem (in particular the homeless and drunks) and / or have fears of other ethnic groups or of inappropriate, vulgar behavior adolescents. In respondent file in the last 5 years were victims of crimes and misdemeanors of almost 15 % of respondents. This is significantly lower than in previous years, when in 2001 indicated that the victim of a crime or offense almost 33 %, in 2006 25 % of respondents. More than half of respondents who met with crime or misdemeanors, said all the police and 31 % of them were with the police access to their case completely satisfied and 58 % overall performance marked police as a professional. The police, according to respondents in Znojmo should focus mainly on street crime (robbery, assault, rape), burglary to homes, cottages and cars and official corruption. A comparison of results from 2010 and previous surveys have shown that the sense of security among the population of Znojmo improves. According to half of the respondents, regardless of gender Znojmo is now more secure than 10 years ago, is also favorably evaluated the police partly because fewer crimes and misdemeanors. An important conclusion of the leaders of the city is also the fact that urban populations are now seen as the biggest problems of unemployment and transport. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
