This letter to the editor discusses a case of alopecia areata (AA) that presented with a novel clinical manifestation resembling androgenic alopecia (AGA). The patient, a 17-year-old teenager, had a family history of AA and experienced diffuse hair loss. Despite previous treatment with topical minoxidil, there was no improvement. The patient was then treated with tofacitinib, which resulted in dramatic hair regrowth. The authors suggest that this case highlights the need for further research to identify individuals with this unique clinical phenotype and investigate its characteristics.
