Higher dimensional computational fluid dynamics modeling can also provide insightful details of the advection-dispersion transport and help the identification of the appropriate one-dimensional effective dispersion coefficient models. The effective dispersion coefficient we adopted from Axworthy and Karney ([2]) was the asymptotic solution of Taylor ([8]) and the dispersion effects shown in Examples 1 and 2 were likely overestimated.
