The article discusses a study to determine the role of angioembolization (AE) and its effectiveness in the management of blunt splenic trauma (BST) in pediatric and adult patients. It is hypothesized that protocol based selective use of EA in hemodynamically stable pediatric and adult patients with BST and high grade injury results in lower failure rates than previously reported. The National Trauma Registry of the American College of Surgeons (NTRACS) was used in this study.
