A novle polymer carbon dots was successfully synthesized with citric acid and ethylenediamine by a simple and cost-effective method to sensitively detect Cr (VI). This kind of carbon dots material was a novel carbon-based fluorescent polymer carbon dots which have good dispersibility, low toxicity, easy surface modification and stable optical properties. The fluorescence intensity of the polymer carbon dots is quenched by the presence of Cr (VI) with a Stern-Volmer constant of 0.436ppm (R2=0.9988). Hence this probe can be used for domestic water Cr (VI) determination. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
