The article reports a study on the up-regulation of receptors in advanced glycation end- products (AGEs) in bovine coccygeal intervertebral disc (IVD) specimens studied in vitro. The study looks into the possibility that these receptors add to the pathogenesis of IVD degeneration. Coccygeal IVDs from bovines are collected. Base on the immunohistochemical analysis AGEs and the receptors are localized in the IVDs of the bovines and AGEs reduces aggrecan expression.
