Two-dimensional ordered array of conjugated main chains has been prepared by spreading a chloroform solution of poly (2-methoxy,5-(n-hexadecyloxy)-p-phenylene vinylene) (MH-PPV) onto the air–water interface and being subsequently transferred onto substrate. The layer-by-layer structure obtained by Langmuir–Blodgett technique exhibits that the main chains are aligned in the LB dipping direction. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
