The article describes the case of four patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA) diagnosed by restricted diffusion in the superficial temporary artery (STA) using standard diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI-MRI). For all patients, magnetic resonance imaging showed abnormal restricted diffusion in the STA and those regions also showed abnormal vessel wall enhancement. It suggests that DWI-MRI is a potential tool to diagnose GCA in the STA.
