(1) New, efficient NiMo bimetallic catalyst for the HDO of lipids to alcohols is disclosed. (2) A ni-mo synergistic catalytic effect is found. (3) Al(PO 3) 3 can inhibit Ni and Mo species oxidation, and promote Ni 3 P formation. (4) This catalyst displays excellent stability and reusability. An efficient Al(PO 3) 3 -supported NiMo bimetallic catalyst for the hydrodeoxygenation of lipids to alcohols has been developed. A Ni-Mo synergistic catalytic effect is found, in which H 2 is mainly activated by Ni0 and Ni 3 P sites, and lipids are mainly absorbed on Mo sites. Al(PO 3) 3 can not only inhibit the oxidation of Ni and Mo species, and but also promote the formation of Ni 3 P, both of which is favorable to the reaction.
