The article presents a study on the effects of increased inflammatory signaling of geranylgeranyltransferase type I (GGTase-I) deficient macrophages to the development of atherosclerosis at a low- density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor. The study uses genotype mice subjected to a Western -type diet of minimal cholesterol for certain period of time. The study concludes that GGTase-I activates RHOA which increases macrophage reverse cholesterol transport and reduces atherosclerosis development.
