A series of 3-arylazasydnone derivatives containing a chlorine atom and nitro group at various phenyl ring locations were functionalized by a method developed on the basis of reactions with different S- and O-nucleophiles. In all cases, an SNAr reaction was shown to occur where the leaving group could be either a halogen or azasydnone moiety, depending on their mutual position. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
