This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, examines the outcomes of neck recurrence in olfactory neuroblastoma (ONB), a type of cancer with uncertain predictors of recurrence. The study analyzed 47 patients with ONB treated between 1995 and 2022, comparing those who developed cervical lymph node recurrence to those who did not recur or only recurred locally. The results showed that neck recurrence was associated with worse clinical outcomes, and although not statistically significant, prophylactic neck radiation appeared to have a protective effect on neck tumor recurrence. The findings suggest the potential role of prophylactic neck irradiation in patients with ONB. [Extracted from the article]
