Flavins and related molecules catalyze organic Baeyer-Villiger reactions. Combined experimental and DFT studies indicate that these molecules also catalyze the insertion of oxygen into metal-carbon bonds through a Baeyer-Villiger-like transition state. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
