The article focuses on the risk factors and molecular mechanisms for extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR) and extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis (XXDR). It discusses several risk factors that contribute on the development of resistance on tuberculosis drugs including the previous treatment, immigration, and patient's age. Furthermore, it recommends to follow the treatment guidelines from World Health Organization (WHO) to ensure the success of tuberculosis treatment.
