The article reports on the changes to HIV/AIDS prevention programs in the United States from 1981-2006. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention support a range of prevention activities, including data collection on HIV/AIDS patients and risk behaviors, education programs, improving prevention programs, program evaluation and research. The prevention efforts have taken a three-pronged approach: prevention activities directed at high risk populations, HIV counseling and testing services, and prevention and health protection activities for those living with HIV/AIDS.
