In the case presented here, we describe the use of a novel, hands-free, biplane, transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) probe with a design that provided continuous acquisition of cardiac US images during an operative procedure. To circumvent the invasiveness of TEE and limitations of current TTE probe design, we utilized the low-profile probe described in this report. A low-profile transthoracic echocardiographic probe (Terason uSmart 3200 T Ultrasound System Biplane Probe XY-63380 (Burlington, MA)) (Figure 1A,B) was placed on the patient's chest and stabilized over the left parasternal window using a modified flexible surgical instrument stabilization arm attached to the surgical table (Figure 1C).
