The article discusses a study which tested the hypothesis that estrogen-induced acceleration of wound healing is mediated by epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) during keratinocyte migration. The authors investigate the role of EMT in 17beta-estradiol (E2)-induced keratinocyte migration, and whether estrogen can alter the rate of cell migration. Their findings reveal that estrogen might promote re-epithelialization in wound healing via an EMT process.
