Exome sequencing analysis reveals two novel mutations in TTC37 in Chinese patients with Crohn's disease.

This article discusses a study that identified two novel mutations in the TTC37 gene in two Chinese patients with Crohn's disease (CD). These mutations are the first two Asian cases of CD associated with TTC37 mutations. The TTC37 gene is involved in RNA exosome regulation and mutations in this gene have been linked to trichohepatoenteric syndrome and IBD. The study suggests that TTC37 mutations may influence the progression of CD by altering mitochondrial structure and function. Further research is needed to understand the precise mechanisms involved.
