The article examines the Southernization of hip-hop music in the U.S. Some of the rappers who originated from the Southern States include rap duo OutKast and rap group Goodie Mob. They became one of the groups who were instrumental in the emergence of the Dirty South rap industry in Atlanta, Georgia. Dirty South rap is characterized by older rap styles with southern music, accents and themes.
