We habituated lemurs using the 300-mM sugar solution and water: We considered lemurs habituated after they discriminated sugar from water across three consecutive trials. The dwarf lemurs almost always consumed all the highly concentrated sugar solutions in the fattening season but generally left behind more highly concentrated sugar solutions in the reproductive season. Whereas mouse lemurs are omnivores that can remain active year-round, dwarf lemurs ( I Cheirogaleus i spp.), larger cousins to the mouse lemurs, are seasonal fruit specialists and obligate hibernators (Blanco I et al i ., [2]).
