The article argues that student-athletes should be recognized as employees of their respective colleges and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and be entitled to privileges and benefits. Topics discussed are history of the NCAA and its amateurism rules, role of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in the debate over student-athlete status and compensation, merits of judicial review of denying employee status to student-athletes, and proposed framework for judicial review.
