The article discusses the study on the effect of the debromination of 4-bromo-3-arylsydnones to 3-arylsydnones using sodium borohydride, sodium dithionite or sodium sulfite. The deiodination of the diiodo species which is important to prepare several substituted analogs is examined. Topics also include determining if selective deiodination could be effected with sodium borohydride as a reagent for the facile removal of a C-sydnone-attached bromine.
