Laser processing for advanced material modification has been developed for more than two decades. Laser processing of the material is a fast, non-contact, and non-chemical method. This study presents a method to produce copper (Cu) silicon (Si) microstructure decorated by silicon nanoparticles as a potential lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery anode. Both processes were performed with a pulsed laser procedure. The Cu microstructure facilitated the silicon nanoparticle's physical expansion during the lithiation process. In this experiment, the roughness of structured Cu and particle size diameter of silicon were found at ∼70 and ∼2 µm, respectively.
