We have experimentally studied the behavior of different resistive joints between two consecutive pancake coils made of stainless steel laminated BSCCO tape. The proposed 1.8 T cryogen free magnet will consist of five pairs of double pancake coils with nine resistive joints between HTS pancakes. In-situ joining of these high strength SS-laminated BSCCO tapes is complicated because of their temperature limitation during soldering. A technique has been followed by overlapping silver sheathed HTS tape on top of SS laminated HTS tape before making the bridge joint between two silver clad HTS tapes at the end of two pancake coils. Performance of these joints have been experimentally studied with different overlapping lengths and with different numbers of cross bridges at 77 K Typical achieved joint resistance is 0.075 μΩ 15 cm of overlap with a maximum current ratio is 75% and the lowest joint resistance achieved for bridge joint is 0.1 μΩ.
