This article, published in the Journal of Neurological Surgery, explores the relationship between superior orbital fissure (SOF) narrowing and tumor-associated pain in spheno-orbital meningiomas (SOMs). The study analyzed medical records of patients who underwent surgical resection for SOMs and conducted radiological analysis to assess tumor volume and SOF narrowing. The results showed that SOF narrowing was significantly correlated with the presence of SOM-associated pain on presentation. The study suggests that decompression of the SOF may be recommended for patients with SOMs experiencing pain. [Extracted from the article]
