Dear Editor, Dermoscopy has a high accuracy for diagnosing basal cell carcinoma (BCC); however, few studies have histologically evaluated its accuracy of margin assessment.1,2 Previous studies included selected subtypes, and accuracy was based on "bread-loaf" sections, examining <1% of the peripheral margin.1,2 In the present study, we evaluated dermoscopy accuracy of distinct BCC subtypes with Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) allowing 100% histological margin assessment. To determine dermoscopic accuracy, tumors were divided into two groups: Accurate dermoscopy: lateral margins cleared on the first MMS stage (71.7%), and Inaccurate dermoscopy: >1 stage to clear margins.
