The article presents a study which investigated how exposure to geriatric medicine before medical school through Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) impacts students' interest and attitudes toward geriatrics. Topics discussed include self-assessment of perceptions of the field of geriatrics by respondents before and after participating in the HELP program, students' retrospective assessments about themselves before the program, and limitation of this type of assessment.
