The article focuses on the findings of a study concerning the effect of flumazenil on bispectral index (BIS) monitoring in unpremedicated patients. The study examines the hypothesis that 0.5 mg of flumazenil administered to healthy unpremedicated patients during deep surgical remifentanil/propofol anesthesia would increase the BIS value and might expedite recovery from anesthesia. It compares BIS values and various recovery parameters in the flumazenil and control groups. Moreover, the study demonstrates that flumazenil given to healthy unpremedicated patients during propofol/remifentanil anesthesia increased the BIS value.
