Highlights: [•] Epoxide hydrolase from A. brasiliensis was detected and cloned, and recombinant EH was purified. [•] The conserved catalytic triad present in EHs is also present in AbEH. [•] AbEH hydrolyzed 66% of 8mM racemic styrene oxide (SO) and the remaining (S)-SO ee exceeded 99%. [•] In a water:isooctane biphasic system AbEH demonstrated a slightly enantioconvergent behavior.
