The article talks about the rebellion of thousands of citizens in Oaxaca, Mexico against the corrupt and oppressive government of Ulises Ruiz Ortiz from May 2006 to April 2007. The Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (APPO) is part of the black and indigenous struggle and resistance comprised of social, political, human rights and union organizations and thousands of independent Oaxacans hoping for a society without the exploited and exploiters. The conflict started when the National Education Workers Union (SNTE) delivered a list of demands to Ulises Ruiz including the creation of education infrastructure, teaching positions, support for scholarships and the application of a salary scale.
