The article discusses a study which investigates the effects of sevoflurane and propofol on the nociceptive withdrawal reflex and on the H reflex. In this study, authors compared in 13 volunteers the effects of sevoflurane and propofol on the amplitudes of the H reflex. The authors concluded that probably due to the polysynaptic relay, the attenuation of the withdrawal reflex surpassed the attenuation of the H reflex. They added that the findings suggested for propofol a stronger effect within the dorsal horn.
