The purpose of this study is to review historical background of China’s grand canal, that has been used for goods transport as well as traffic mean since old days, and to analyze its economic influence, and to reconfirm its importance, so that to support future logistic policy of China. The China’s grand canal allows unified operation of ocean ports and coastal harbors as well as makes inland city to coastal harbor, so that gives big influence to the balanced regional development. The construction of grand canal has improved water resource availability as well as flood prevention. and the traffic congestion can be relieved by revitalization of coastal transport, so the efficiency of export freight traffic can be improved. also the mass transport can give cut-down effect on logistic cost. China can participate in world-wide canal construction projects, as of the part of Global New Silkroad Strategy. Furthermore it can give big influence to global economic growth of China as well as improve national competitiveness.
