It has already been 40 years since Chinese reformation and opening started. After the reformation and opening of China, Chinese government has executed the opening policy of economy and culture as well, thus experiencing the inflow of overseas culture unaffectedly. Korea and China belong to the Confucian cultural zone, and therefore their customs and habits are similar in many aspects. In this vein, people in both countries are not difficult to accept the other’s culture. As Korean wave began to popularize in China and East Asian countries in the latter half of the 1990s, Korean dramas have gained sensational popularity in these countries and Korean culture has begun to be highlighted in China as well. In China, people call it ‘Hanliu (韓流).’ The fever of Korean wave has continued to be exist for more than 10 years since 2000. Regarding the current status of Korean wave in China, Korean cultural products seemed to be deeply rooted in the Chinese cultural market already. Among them, TV dramas are an easily accessible cultural activity in Chinese daily life, and therefore many of them have become the subjects of remake, namely reproduction. The current drama making level of Korea is regarded as the leader of Asian countries, and therefore there are many remaking Chinese dramas of which original dramas are Korean ones. However, people criticize the fact that many re-makers simply change performers and do not reorganize original dramas, thus just copying the original ones. Korean dramas are in fact the stories of a similar cultural zone and not the stories of Chinese audience. In this vein, remaking needs to consider the scope and degree of original works. Korean remake dramas of Chinese original works are rare for the present. So, Korean remake drama , broadcasted in 2016, attracted great attention in China. In this study, the author compared Korean remake drama with Chinese drama focusing on their main texts. The author tried to find out the difference between an adapted drama and an original drama. For this, the author first examined Chinese drama 『Bubujingxin (步步惊心)』 focusing on its composition of stories, establishment of figures, and stream of stories, thus presenting its unique portions. And then Korean remake drama was looked into focusing on setting, story structure, and story development. The difference of two works in structural aspects, such as texts, themes and characters, was comparatively analyzed and then the degree of Korean drama’s application of original one was looked into. As time goes by quickly, the production cycles of drama become short and the period of profit becomes quick. But it is necessary for a drama not to change its artistry. It is a misconception that remake is easier than creation. And drama producer’s conception of remake is different each other. The impatient desire for profit can make a re-maker examine the original work superficially, and therefore receive audience’s harsh criticism. A remake work must understand the location of theme accurately, thus handling the idea of work evenly and exerting understanding and imagination. It is necessary to understand the core of original works and then break its structure, thus creating a new work which has a new style of artistic regulations. If a remake work has artistry and commerciality, audience will love it. The author hopes study findings will be used in the production of remake dramas in Korea and China as useful data in its initial stage of attempt of remake.
