This thesis is based on the comparison on Chinese poetry between Iinro, the representative of Chook-rim-ko-hoe, and Ruan Ji , the leader of Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove. At the first part, this thesis makes a simple introduction of Li’s and Ruan’s life. Iinro was born in Korean army generals centralization period. In order to avoid persecution from army official, he went into seclusion. Several years later, he came out to work for government, but still not be reused. Then the idea of reclusion came up again. However, due to his care on people, he couldn’t go into seclusion again. Similar with Iinro, Ruan spent his life in pain. Korean period is the peak of Chinese literature. Therefore, Li was affected by Ruan in behavior, literature, thought, etc. What’s more, Li always put some Ruan’s deeds and verse into his works. The next part is the comparion on Chinese poetry between Iinro and Ruan Ji , which mainly focuses on the theme and rhetoric. The first section is about the theme, which is analyzed on five parts, unrecognized talent, worrying awareness of life, loneliness of spirit, satire on reality, seclusion life. For unrecognized talent, both of them have resentment, but Li expresses much more euphemistic than Ruan. For worrying awareness of life, Ruan’s consciousness of life is more intense due to his confused social background. For loneliness of spirit, Li expresses directly while Ruan prefers to indirect expression. For satire on reality, Li mainly focuses on the description of people’s suffering to satirize the centralist, while Ruan directly satirizes the centralist’s hypocritical words and action. For the seclusion life, Li just expresses the pursuit through description of beautiful sceneries, while Ruan describes the gods and hermit to express his will of seclusion. The second section is about the rhetoric, which refers to allusion, contrast, metaphor and symbolization. For contrast and metaphor, there is no much difference between Li and Ruan. For the use of allusion, Ruan directly quotes sentences from Chinese classical poems, but Li would add innovative thoughts besides quoting the original. For the symbolization of bird, plant, natural phenomenon and historical characters, the main difference between them is the expression of meaning of plant. Li uses plant to express the meaning of life, but Ruan uses plant to express the briefness of life. In general, Iinro is deeply influenced by Ruan Ji on thought and literature. However, both of them have their own characteristics. Hope this thesis will be helpful on research of Iinro and Ruan Ji
