The recent paradigm shift to eco-friendly vehicles in the automotive industry is spreading rapidly. Automotive companies worldwide are actively developing eco-friendly vehicles to create a competitive advantage in a changing environment. This study delves into the recently changing automotive industry and analyzes the competitiveness of Korea, China, Japan, the United States and Germany based on Porter‘s Diamond Model. This is interesting because it examines the competitiveness of each country to capture the eco-friendly vehicle market as competition intensifies among countries to secure leadership positions in the eco-friendly vehicle industry. For this purpose, experts in various fields of the automotive industry were surveyed and analyzed using the hierarchical analysismethod (AHP). A total of 28 questionnaires were used for the analysis, on the basis of which a competitiveness index for the eco-friendly vehicle industry was developed, and the competitive factors were compared and analyzed in each country. The results showed that the competitiveness of the eco-friendly vehicle industry in each country was in the following order: the United States, Japan, China, Germany, and Korea. Finally, based on the analysis results, the development direction of Korea's eco-friendly vehicle industry and its strategic significance for the future are proposed.
