The location of Buddhist temple is most likely to have a close connection with its establishment background. Therefore, in order to test this hypothesis, this study chose Tibetan Buddhism Temples in the Inner Mongolia HuBaoEe area as the place is the origin of Tibetan Buddhism, comprehending the purpose of their construction is easier than other Buddhist temples. HuBaoEe area is the abbreviation of Huhehaoteshi, Baotoushi, Eerduosishi. As of now, there are total 37 temples in the area. This study choice 25 among them that were representatives of early Tibetan Buddhism Temple with a clear background of its establishment.Through the analysis of surrounding natural environment and geography of the Inner Mongolia HuBaoEe area Tibetan Buddhism Temple, this study aimed to discover a common factor and characteristic among the Temple. Furthermore, this study aimed to find the principle of selecting the location of Tibetan Buddhist temples in the Inner Mongolia HuBaoEe area. As a result, It was affirmed that the critical factors that determined location of Tibetan Buddhism in the Inner Mongolia were religious, social, and political ideologies.It was also affirmed that the establisher’s personality was reflected in the characteristics of selecting the location for the temples. Temples were located in the mountains or the foot of the mountain when the establisher’s religious ideology of Tibetan Buddhism was strong.When the establisher was a political authority including high priest, temples were located within castles or on a plain ground.South was preferred as the construction site, and the choice of the site was based on its surrounding geographical shape. Viewing from the main building, it was observed that locations where the left ground was higher than the ground on the right side were preferred.
