This paper covers the history of translation about roughly 2,000 years of translation aesthetics in China. The development process will be divided into traditional times, modern times, and contemporary times. First of all, it introduces the origin of the aesthetics of the Chinese translations and “a struggle of Wen Zhi” and “the unity of Wen Zhi” in traditional translation aesthetics. Secondly, it focuses on “Xin, Da and Ya” of Yan Fu, “Shen Si” of “Fu Lei” and “Hua Jing” of Qian Zhongshu, which are the most famous translated aesthetic philosophy of the modern translation aesthetics. Thirdly, it reviews the systematic study of modern translation aesthetics from the late nineteenth century to the late twentieth century, the development process and research achievements of modern aesthetics in China. It also reviews the theoretical research results of the modern translation aesthetics. Lastly, it reviews the development of the Chinese translation aesthetics and puts forward five suggestions for the sustainable development of the Chinese translation aesthetics.
