The measurements of the temperature field are very important and difficult for generally single-point measuring instrument. Here we presented a simple temperature field sensor by using a chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) as the sensing element. As the temperature varies around the CFBG along the optical fiber Z-axis, because of the photo-thermal effect, the temperature change in the gradient temperature field will lead to the shifting of the CFBG's spectrum. We believe that this simple configuration will open the way to research in CFBG-derived theories and configurations for the detection of temperature fields.
