The article looks at the status of dispensing practices in rural primary care in Great Britain as of August 2010. It is noted that a dispensing doctor is currently allowed to dispense to a patient who requests dispensing services who lives in a designated rural area. It mentions several options that would have radically changed dispensing in England proposed in the pharmacy White Paper "Building on Strengths - Delivering the Future." It also cites that dispensing by a doctor occurs in dispensaries based in surgery premises.
